The Vatican pays homage to John Paul II on the occasion of his beatification creating this webpage which retraces some of the most significant moments of his history and of his pontificate.

The site has been created with a preference for the power and the spontaneity of the images.There are 500 photographs, 30 videos and 400 sentences in six different languages, totaling 2,400 sentences!

These "special events" have been collected by topic (e.g. children, youth, the election, the attempt on his life, the Jubilee, etc.) and each topic has been represented in the form of a "booklet" of images to flip through, all accompanied by a meaningful sentence.

The section dedicated to the Pontificate has been realized exclusively through video. Among the other sections of the site there is one completely dedicated to the prayers of the Pope. On this site one may also watch the live streaming of the whole event.

The site has been developed for all technologies: PCs, laptops, mobile devices, smartphones, iPhones, iPads, etc., a feature technically complex to realize but crucial in order to ensure the highest availability, especially for pilgrims who can access the page from all over the world and from all devices and can be followed on their pilgrimage, during the days of the beatification, tracing the events through the images and the words of the Blessed John Paul II and hence praying with him.

Many Vatican Institutions have been involved in the project, apart from the Vatican Internet Service and the Department of Telecommunications: the Photo Service of L'Osservatore Romano, which has provided the photo archive (there are millions of photographs of John Paul II), the Vatican Radio and Vatican Television Centre for the videos, the Vatican Publishing House for the Roman Triptych, which covers an entire section of the site, the Holy See Press Office and the Pontifical Council for Social Communications, the Opera Romana Pellegrinaggi and the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples.
